Troubleshooting Tips for Gel Candles

While gel candles are not particularly difficult to make, there are some very important temperature rules to learn and adhere to.

When your gel is at the right temperature and you’re ready to pour try and remember the following to avoid problems later:

1.
Don’t pour too quickly as you will create air bubbles as you pour your gel.

2. Heat the glassware you’ll be using for a couple of minutes in a 175F oven before pouring.

3. If you’re embedding items like glass miniatures or shells make sure they are clean and dry and dip them into the gel before embedding them.  Remember, shells have small crevices that can trap air causing bubbles.

4. Don’t stir your gel with a wooden spoon as this will also create bubbles.
